NetSetGo Volunteers

NetSetGo requires the support of parent volunteers to help in the successful running of the team and the competition. This includes appointing the following roles:

  • Team Coach
  • Team Manager
  • Team Umpires – we recommend 2-3 umpires per team – this will effectively mean you umpire maximum 3 games each throughout the season.

NetSetGo runs differently to our graded competitions of Juniors and Seniors, as all our umpires are volunteer parents. This is uniquely designed to reflect the ‘non-competitive’ nature of the event, which has no league table or final series.

What to do:

  1. To be eligible to play in the U8’s, your child should be turning 8 years old by 31, December of that playing year.
  2. To be eligible for the U9’s, your child should be turning 9 years old by 31, December of that playing year.
  3. Each player will need to register as an individual through PlayHQ. At the payment and summary page, you will see how the total fee is divided between Netball Australia, Netball New South Wales, Northern Suburbs Netball Association, and Mosman Netball Club.
  4. NSNA requires that volunteer umpires register as a non-player through PlayHQ for insurance purposes. There is no fee for a non-player membership.
  5. To create a team, you need 7 – 9 players (no more than 9 to ensure adequate time on court for player development).
  6. Once your team has come together, email a team list with players name along with your team manager and volunteer umpires to the NetSetGo convenor – netsetgo@mosmannetball.com.au
  7. Volunteer umpires are strongly encouraged to attend the NSNA NSG Umpires training. Please CLICK HERE to view the NSNA calendar.
  8. Once registrations close, teams will be finalised and submitted to Northern Suburbs Netball Association for division placement.
  9. CLICK HERE to view the Club Calendar for training dates and times.
  10. All communications will be done via our newsletter, Club App – Stack Team App, and our social media pages.

Umpiring

  • All umpires are volunteer parents.
  • NetSetGo matches are controlled by one umpire.
  • Teams are rostered by NSNA to provide an umpire approximately every second week.

Responsibilities on Match Day

  • Dress: NetSetGo umpires will be given a high-vis vest to put on at the beginning of the game. This can be found in the centre circle of each court and is provided by the NSNA. All umpires must be in sports shoes.
  • Please arrive 15 minutes before your game to familiarize yourself with the teams, carry out the coin-toss (to determine first centre and goal ends) and to commence the game on time.
  • Verify the score sheet at the end of the match.

How do you know when you have to umpire?

  • Look at the NetSetGo draw on the PlayHQ website. If your team is listed first, you are required to umpire that round.
  • Teams are rostered by NSNA to provide an umpire approximately every second week.
